You can mention people in public chat with @, including @all
Public chat now feels more direct thanks to @mentions, including @nick, @all, @members, and @guests in the mention logic.
One of the small features we really like in public chat is how easy it is to mention people using @.
If you want to get one person’s attention, you can type @ followed by their nick right in the message. That makes conversations feel a lot more direct, especially when the room is busy and messages are moving fast.
More than just one-person mentions
The mention system does more than single-user callouts. The chat also supports @all, which is great when you want to call everyone’s attention to something in the public room without repeating yourself. The mention logic also recognizes @members and @guests, which gives you a little more flexibility when talking to different parts of the room.
- Use
@nickto speak to one person directly - Use
@allwhen something matters to the whole room - Use
@membersand@guestsfor broader group mentions - Clicking someone in the people list can help insert their
@nickquickly
This kind of feature makes online chat rooms feel more natural. Instead of shouting into the void, people can direct messages more clearly and keep conversations easier to follow inside active sri lankan chat rooms.
